SPOOL Page 9: What Are We Going To Do?Ok, so…I realize this page is pretty heavy. I fully acknowledge that it features rape and murder. And not just murder, but the torturous murder of baby caterpillars in a boiling pot of water. After drawing the frame where Janice is holding her baby, I realized I probably shouldn’t have made it look so human. I apologize if I’ve offended anyone, but it is just a story and the story actually does have truth to it.Bombyx Mori cocoons are indeed boiled and used for many things. One being for their silk. But also, the extract from these cocoons is used for medicinal purposes. There are other ways to get the silk besides boiling; such as allowing the cocoons to go through full term, but I’ve read that this can actually be worse since a lot of the caterpillars are starved afterward to decrease overpopulation. It’s all very sad, actually. The Bombyx Mori moth is also extremely cute. Check out how cute they are:  http://www.flickr.com/photos/megz/224671107/ Also, I’ve heard that some moths are stronger than butterflies (*not necessarily the bombyx mori; they can’t even fly) and some of them are more beautiful in my opinion: http://magicoflife.org/butterfly_photos/Antherina_suraka.500.jpg

Pashmina, in its purest form, is one of the most expensive wools on Earth. I learned this, when reading about the world’s most expensive suit by Alexander Amosu."Using the world’s most luxurious fabrics is paramount to the quality of Alexander Amosu. One such fibre is Vicuna; a rare wild South American Camelid which only produces enough wool for shearing every three years. Another fibre used in the collection is Qiviuk; the world’s most expensive wool, gathered from the Arctic muskox, which sheds its coat once a year. Together, blended with Pashmina from the high mountain plateaus of the Himalaya’s they create the world’s most luxurious cloth: Vanquish II."Well, certainly, Patrick isn’t wearing a Vanquish II gold threaded suit, but I didn’t want him to wear a barrel with suspenders to the fashion show, did I?You can read about the world’s (now second or possibly even 3rd since it was done in 2009) most expensive suit here: http://www.luxurylaunches.com/fashion/worlds_most_expensive_suit_priced_at_102500_is_up_for_grabs.php
